This course covers how to protect a network with appropriate settings of the Symantec Gateway Security appliance for antispam, antivirus, and firewall services. Students will learn to deploy and install the appliance, configure the appliance components and architecture, and configure and manage incidents. Students will also learn how to set up a VPN, configure DNS, and troubleshoot networking as they integrate their security and networking expertise in designing, and deploying a complete network security solution. Delivery of this course involves a traditional lecture with practical lab exercises. The instructor covers one or more topic areas at a time followed by a hands-on lab exercise where appropriate. The lab environment involves one or more students sharing the tasks of configuring a Symantec Gateway Security 5600 Series appliance to meet the stated lab objectives.
