Cisco MeetingPlace SMTP E-mail Gateway is a component of the Cisco MeetingPlace solution that integrates MeetingPlace into the enterprise e-mail system to notify meeting invitees of the meeting and allow them to click to attend rich-media conferences. The Cisco MeetingPlace SMTP E-mail Gateway 5.3 application integrates Cisco MeetingPlace with your organization's Internet mail system running the Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP). It combines with Cisco MeetingPlace Web scheduling application to notify attendees when a meeting is scheduled, changed, or canceled. When any of these events occurs, the application sends an e-mail message to meeting participants. If it is a newly scheduled meeting, the e-mail invites them to attend the voice, video, and Web conference and provides them with all the meeting information. If the meeting is rescheduled or canceled, the e-mail informs them of the meeting change or the cancellation. With Cisco MeetingPlace SMTP E-mail Gateway, users can send these e-mail notifications to meeting participants and can distribute pre-meeting reading material or presentations. Cisco MeetingPlace can be deployed in a variety of ways-on premises or hosted in off-site facilities, customer managed or outsourced. Outsourcing can provide system administration and end-user help desk functions for on-premises or hosted systems - combining all the benefits of dedicated on-network conferencing with the convenience of outsourced services.
