Allied Telesyn's AT-2971 series Gigabit Ethernet adapters are high performance adapters with a 32/64-bit/33/66MHz bus, wire speed, and 9kb jumbo frames support. The adapter supports the calculation of TCP, UDP, and IP checksums through the hardware platform without time loss by the MAC controller for both the receive and the transmit path, which lead to overall system performance improvement. In addition, in order to reduce the load on the CPU, the AT-2971 can use interrupt moderation to group the huge amounts of interrupts caused by small packets transferred at Gigabit speed so that several data packets can be handled per interrupt.
